Chile's June lithium carbonate exports increased by 138%
Issue Time:2018-07-25
According to the data of the Central Bank of Chile, the total export of lithium carbonate in the first half of 2018 was $486 million, up 45% from the same period last year, according to the data of the Central Bank of Chile, according to the Chilean Central Bank's data network, Emol news network, Chile, July 9th. In June, the export volume of lithium carbonate was US $99 million, an increase of 138% over the same period last year.
This is due to the higher production quotas authorized by the Chilean Production Promotion Agency (Corfo) by the SQM and Albemarle, the major lithium producers in Chile this year, and on the other hand the growth of market demand.
Analysts estimate that the market demand for lithium will increase by more than 20% this year and nenext.
